Recess week has come and gone!

Mum is now experiencing more and more pain, especially in the tailbone area, possibly due to swelling lymph nodes pressing on the nerves or something(based on my research). There is also slight swelling of the legs.

However she can still walk around without help sometimes, and doin some simple chores in the morning. But other times she experienced sudden and sharp pains lasting a few seconds. She also need help sitting up from lying down, and more recently, vice versa. The lesson I learnt at hca regarding positions to help yourself help patients up certainly helped:

Eg you are helping the patient up from his right side of the bed.
Using your left hand, hold down his right hand by his side.
Using your right hand, slowly help the patient sit up by holding and pulling gently on his left hand, and letting him lean onto you if necessary.

If there is a hospital bed, all the better. Just use the buttons to incline the head potion!

If the patient is really weak, or you are not strong enough, can use left hand to supper the back as he sits up.

Back to looking for internships for the holidays! Chances are real low cos I have like little experience and the companies are like asking for alot of things. Guess I should have signed up for the Csc E10 camp. But with so many worries (like my mum), i am like filled with lots of "whats if..."
