Went for my 2nd blood donation for my lifetime!
though i can only blog about it now as my chalet ends just today
This time, it is at HSA, the main centre for blood donations.
Blood donation drive is organised by nuffnang, the advertising firm tt puts the ads in my blog.
i gotten the earliest time slot of 9am to 10am, and reached there abit early.
despite being a repeat donor, i still have to fill in the forms askin bout my health status etc.
but ocs i came early, i ended up being the fifth in line, and everything was over in less than an hour!
can see that alot of the bloggers are actually first timers, and including the gal beside me in the donor chair.
she keep telling her fren (on her hp) how nervous she is and the malay nurse keep reassuring her...
and when i was done..she was like so shocked.."wah! u so fast!! ..." LOL. but i guess she, and the others, have been brave enough ot step out and volunteer their time and blood.
too bad my borther cant make it though.

heres the procedure:for me at that time, after the blood donation, i get to play games and mix around with the other nuffnang members at the lounge! so in a way, i am making new frens. We played games, chatted and had buffet lunch, and also gotten sourveneirs and a certificate! haha.
-Fill in e questionnaire about yur health status truthfully and sign.
-Submit at counter and wait for call.
-A doctor (or someone) will attend to u in another room, asking you some questions and measuring your blood pressure and weight.
-At next "station", a nurse will attend to you, pricking the fourth finer to get a few drops of blood and dropping them into a solution. to measure iron levels i think. Over in a couple of seconds.
-At the donor room, the nurses will keep asking about yur name and IC to check.
-Alcohol is rubbed onto hand throughoutly to cleanse the area.
-Anesthetic is injected. u will feel slight pain as the small needle goes in. but the pain generally disappears as anesthetic starts working.
-The bag is prepared, and the bigger needle goes in. For people who are afraid, just look away and you will be fine. Pain level is virtually zero throughout the whole 5-10 mins process of drawing blood.
-When bag is full, needle is withdrawn, and bandage applied. nurse might ask u to apply pressure using yur thumb on the cotton cloth for a few minutes before the colouful bandage is applied.
-Sit and relax for a few mintues and smile at having been able to save lives.
-Use coupon and get snacks outside!
-Bandage can be removed after 4-6 hours.
-Eat iron tablets once a day for the next 2 weeks / eat food rich in iron. In addition, drink more water and refrain from strenuous exercise for up to 12-24 hrs.
--Give yourself a pat on the back!
