ODAC NYAA camp'o8

I am finally back from the ODAC NYAA camp!!
its pretty fun, enjoyable, memorable and nice!
i seriously don't regret signing up for the camp.
And my group was so high even since day 1.
That made the 3 days even more fun and enjoyable - thanks ppl!

I am in group A2 out of4 other groups N Y A A.

Day 1 :
camp is at MOE Labrador Adventure Centre (LAC)
Sharing campsite with ajc de abcde SIs campers as well as outram park pri de BB.

morning was ice breakers, mining game, horizontal rock wall-> not too bad

After lunch was supposed to be Vertical Rock wall, but it rained just right after the briefing.
So we had wet weather plan!
Sleeping game (zzz)
Tuna Squash! => painful but fun.

the rain finally lighten enough for us to proceed back to the rock wall.
i completed it!

For high elements, I only managed to do the horizontal logs one. the rest we didnt have much time liaoz.


Damn scary! the logs tilted and rocked alot due to the wind and my movements.
have to really s t r e t c h your arms to reach for the wires.
but bcos of the encouragement from my group mates, i managed to complete it! =D

Mass field cooking was for dinner!
and its really massive, considering the food we had to cook - 5-6 cooking for 20 ppl
the rest cutting and decorating for the competition

Macaroni, Spaghetti, Fish balls, meat, eggs, cambell, watermelon, cucumber etc.
We used up damn alot of solid fuel, and still managed to get only nearly-cooked macaroni and spaghetti...=.="

the judges heard our story of our dishes " 3 little pigs"
seem quite impressed --- then they tasted our food.

Day 2:
Pulau Ubin!
its been ages i been there.

we saw the airport, the marina IR site, the floating stadium and the singapore flyer on our way to the ferry terminal..
there was even a moment whereby a SIA plane was taking off in the backdrop of a rainbow! but sadly no camera...=(

We reached there by bumboat at about 8plus, and started our cycling using clues, maps, compasses etc.
I thought the rough road= the rough terrain they indicated on the consent form.
but alas, the rough terrain is really rough!
on the OBS route, there are stones, rocks, grass, soil etc.
I seriously pitied our bikes and butts.

but then, i love parts where there is down slopes!
and i hate going up slopes.. pant and pant and if u stop, u r probably not gonna be able to start again and so u have to push.

I also like the way my group pass down relays.
"Uphill ahead!!" "Keep Left!"...."Slow down! Van ahead." everyone echoes just as loudly.

The part after lunch was just as exciting.
Except for the rain, the sun, the rain and the sun again, we get to cross bridges, and flooded roads at knee deep level. "Swimming pool ahead!!"

this trip is really an eye opening and a good experience for me!
Learnt map reading, compass reading and using the 6 point reference.
i dont mind going through it all over again..=)

In all, i earned 6 mosquito bites depsite me applying insect repllent.
And raining super heavily on our boat trip back.

we went back to LAC for dinner before we began our war game!
The instructions given out was damn funny:

"each one of u will have 2 white balls!" "LOLOLOL" (we laughing)
"okok, (rephrase) everyone of u will have each w white crumpled paper balls!"
...
"you have to throw the balls into yur opponents' holes to win!" "LOLOLOL"
"the holes are there for u to throw, so dont worry...."

used up damn alot alot alot of newspapers and papers. in the spirit of fun.
even mr.chin the odac teacher joined in.
we A2 won the game.=D
My harmoc teacher would never allow this for our camp..

the debrief for day 3 was to wake up at 6am.
but almost everyone know that it will not be the case.

Day 3:
kenna woken up at 2.45am!
got one camper "missing" and we had to go look for him.
but actually its to mark the beginning of the surprise night trek.

but somehow, actually we knew about it le.
General stations at kent ridge park.
involving a solo night walk (not scary but tiring cos got going up staircase some more)

rested and slept at the peak before going to the canopy walk bridge to see sunrise.
but stupid clouds spoiled the view.
haiz.

Area cleaning - my group kenna toilet! =(
the toilet the guys r in charge of, got someone shit in the bathing cubicle sia!
we seriously cursing tt person...

OVERALL
it has been a fun camp!
And my group won the most enthu group award!
which i think is seriously reflective of my group.
