HAPPY CNY!
just came back from malaysia yesterday.
where me and family spent our cny holiday at Cameron highlands.
not too bad lah. this is my first time there. Climate there was rather cooling.
Its supposed to be higher than Genting, but there isnt as much clouds there though
The 3d2n tour consists of mainly tours to farms etc. Which is much better than visiting temples and the same old places.
first day:
The trip from Singapore to Cameron involved about 1 whole day le.
The road there inolved lots of S shape twists and turns, much much worse than going up genting, suchthat any bag not put properly on the floor ended up sliding left and right...I lost count of the number of signs shouting awas! also.
Our bus was one of a group of 5 buses heading there together. Due to our bus captain's superior drving skills (and speed), our bus was quite early, and we took the chance to visit the tea plantation (supposed to be on the third day) first. And due to the jam on the way to dinner after the impromptu vist, we became the last bus to reach the restaurant ...=.="
The roads on the mountain was quite narrow and the holiday season bringing in buses didnt help either. jams can started out of nowhere cos of cars parking by the roadside along one lane roads. There were the heavy presence of traffic police and hence our bus had a hard time trying to "park legally" also.
Dinner at a chinese restaurant, before heading to our hotel.
2nd day:
First up was the rose valley.
But we found not only roses there, but also alot of other plants, including weird ones (and animals)
Next stop was the Bee Farm. Yups, there were bess, but the thing is, there were flying freely and we the visotrs are allowed to go in the farm! There were fences preventing us from going near the bee hives, but nothing to stop the bees from flying around us!. luckily not alot also.=.=!
After lunch (at a chi restoran again...zzz) we headed to the Time tunnel, where the history of cameron was shown, much like the history museum. We even saw photos of Mr.Lee Hsien Loong when he was young, with his father Mr.Lee Kuan Yew at the early cameron highlands. I am not sure if the ticketing attendant blind, or kind to give discount or what, he made my mum buy a child ticket for me...!!!!
Next was the Cactus plantation. i have never seen before so many different types of cactus! Big ones, small ones, spiky ones, non-spiky ones, smooth ones, cotton ones etc...Some other weird plants we found also. We saw one tour guide gave the instruction to "u got 5 mintues to take all the photos u can and assemble back here..." much to our amusement, seeing the caucasian tourists rushing here and there.
Last stop was to a Pasa petang (if you can recall in my earlier entires on my malay lessons, petang = afternoon). Stalls consist of a big umbrealla, a table and the products. And just behind the pasa petang was a police station! ...
Dinner was at a chinese restaurant AGAIn...It was steamboat this time. There was a mess by the time my tablw finished..LOL
We were given 2 hours in toral to visit the cactus plantation and the pasar petang, however we (and many others) took only about 1-1.5 hours and we ended up really early at the restaurant.
Mum's flu got worse suddenly at night in the hotel room and she was shivering like siao. But luckily after some rest, hot towels, and 2 blankets later, she was sweating and complaining of warmness. =/
3rd day:
Our bus did not need to visit the tea plantation liaoz, so we checked out and left the hotel a little later and went straight to some caves in sothern ipoh - the san bao dong.
Temples and temples. joss sticks and statues. Haiz
Lunch at yet another chinese restaurant!! But i had no complains cos i lao-ed yusheng for the first time! Quite fun. Not too bad tasting as described in eric's blog either. hahas...
One bus was freakingly late (cos of one inconsiderate family's daughter who went to climb the cave behind the temple) and resulted in one table having only 2 ppl, 1 empty table and another family. This was a result of the tour company wanting to mix ppl from the different buses tgt...=.="
After that was the journey back to johore. abit of jams here and there, but nevertheless smooth and fast. Dinner at aa yong peng - you know it - chinese restaurant! best meals of all. Maybe bcos we were really hungry from the long journey from ipoh to johore. Fried prawns, drunken chicken, etc
Spent the rest of the journey watching stars and singapore cars going by. A jam suddenly started out of nowhere and i see many malaysian drivers trying to beat the jam by diving on the road shoulder- and end up that lane got congested as well. And suddenly, the jam seemed to clear and we reached singapore by about 11 plus.
My 3.2 megapixel camera works great as well! And hence i took lots and lots of photos! Thanks to the G-powerstick (introduced by ykm) i bought months ago (and not yet used) and 2 energizer batteries, the phone is able to last for all 3 days..=D
And because there is too much photos, I am not gonna put all of them here. They are all uploaded at my photobucket account. [Day 1] [Day 2] [Day3] - password : jtphotobucket
And sorry for the missing descriptions cos I do not have ample time to manually "describe" all of them.
Selected photos are below if you do not have e time.
