On the issue of Odex fining ppl who downloads animes illegally online
i am kinda on the side of the anime fans in Singapore as well, those who are against the move by Odex.
I have not watch the animes provided by Odex, but I heard that it was not really good. So that is already a strong reason to why the Singapore fans turn to illegal (and cheaper - and BETTER quality) means.
Price is also another factor. Expensive versus free. Which will consumers in the right mind choose? I am not saying that they should provide free, but at least make it more affordable and appealing to the consumer, of which a majority is teens who might not be able to afford their high prices Public campaigns should also be launched to encourage the teens to support the anime producers by purchasing the animes and stop downloading them illegally for free, much like the "I am HIP" campaign to discourage the illegal downloads of music (instead of using such a strong move)
So, in conclusion, I am very much against the move by Odex.
