2011 has been the craziest and fastest year in my opinion.
so many things happen and its christmas before u know it.

the end of army life and the start of uni!
from barely reading books and watching anime and slacking lifestyle to a mugging all day long and barely understanding homework lifestyle.

kinda unhealthy.
maybe i need a better and more focused way of studying.
what used to work in in schs dont seem to work in uni.
or maybe its the 2-years-in-army.

my mum is (almost) recovered!
the cancer cells are gone(and hopefully for good)
and her hair is growing back.

Hopefully SMRT can recover (and learn from whatever shit has happens) before the school reopens!
I foresee my timetable with 2-3 travelling at morning peak periods.
Forgive and forget? I dunno cause the breakdowns haven affected me much.

The long awaited trip on a cruise with my fellow secondary sch friends came! and went just like that.

Anw, Im glad I went. Many many many thanks to gabriel for the treat and his family for being the host.
its been a long time since I've been on a cruise, and virgo - such a huge ship - and with friends at that.

1st day was spent on checking in, dinner, bingo and board games!
playing Janga while the ship/sea was rolling at its worst.
and k-boxing.
shared a room with mel, matthew and clarence.

2nd day was the most memorable one.
breakfast, mini golf, and then to Rendang island.

snorkeling! long wanted to do this.
the person didnt really teach us how to use the mask and we end up tasting lots and lots of horribly saly water.
i got some scratches on the corrals.
but with the bread we bought, we managed to get up close to the fishes.
different fishes of colours and sizes.
love the expereince. hoped to do scuba diving some day too!
too bad, we had no photography equipment and had to ask a random stranger to take and hopes she rmb to facebook us some day.

spent the rest of the day at the other part of the island eating, buying souvenirs at the lone shop and watching ppl at the beach.

tried the new slides when we went back to the ship.
it attracted us so much we tried for 3 times! lol
and the jacuzzi.

dinner, playing monopoly, chilling, at the bar and watching a show.
we were so tired and the show wasnt tt exciting as anticipated and some of us actually dozed off during parts of the show

and the trip came to an end today morning.
nearly 9 yrs of friendship!

I hope to continue to have more good memories with them

returning home, my mum has just finished her 2nd round of chemo.
looking visibly tired but otherwise okay.
Hope she conts to stay strong and win this battle.

now back to studies!

Orientation is over! and marks the start of uni life.

Glad i went for the Rag on National Day!
although the weather was unbearing sunny and humid.

We were issued sunblocks during the camp for the Sentosa sun...but i think this is worse
sitting still watching the performances and letting the sun bake the exposed skins.

Good work to the floats! although its such a waste that they'll be demolished.
hopefully the "recycled materials" get recycled.

And the NDP! got a great view using the giant LCD screens and of Marina Bay!
and esp the fireworks!
can really see the lag between realtime and on television (between 2-4 secs)
and of a cute little boy in front of me who keep climbing up and down and couldnt sit for > 1 sec.

Mum is now in hospital.
hopefully no recurrence of cancer although she says it is likely.
she says that doctor says that it is not very serious this time round.
hopefully its true?
shes undergoing chemotherapy now.
pray that everything ends well.

on a side note, lessons in uni have not started. start going through orientation week.
travel is eating into my pocket as i await the arrival of my nus ez-link card and the circle line.

Im glad that I went for the soc fow camp !

tiring though fun.
and the main thing is that the seniors are around for the module bidding process.

bidding for module is a new but stressful experience.
bidding and checking results kept up awake way past the already late sleeping time.
sleeping at around 4plus AM and waking up at 8.
and checking and rebidding all the way to sentosa...LOL.
kudos to the laptops and 3G internet tethering available.

think it will be much better during sem 2.
this year's freshie seems very aggressive (me included).

made many new friends too.
a new phase in my life is beginning and i hope to do well in it.

Time really flies!

Seems like yesterday I started training and working at Prinsep house and yesterday is my last day there.
Damn. should have grabbed the opp for a photo when everyone (almost) I knew at Prinsep Rainbow is there.
Well, the best memories are in the head.

Thanks to everyone there! Despite all the quarrels, I still had a good time there (yeah scanning and scanning and scanning and...)
Aunites Sadia, Fathima, Alice, Soh Hoon,Annie, Esther and Raimi.
Not sure if i am gonna be able to visit them in future, by the news that Rainbow is splitting up and moving to faraway Tampines and Harbourfront.

From now till 7 july, it will be all the way at amk branch.
Visiting Taiwan from 8 july to 15 wif my family.

Repeat.
add in Munching, Chatting, Clarifying, Photocopying, Rejecting documents, Toilets occasionally.

and most of the work (worth 3 hrs or more) always comes at the last 2 hours.

No thanks to the many weekends holidays this month, work actually piled up even when when we are NOT around.

Just went for my tooth surgery. 2 in fact, hopping to end the bugger tooth infection once and for all.

The 2 are the upper right 2 molars.

Call me pussy or something, but I opted for sedation. Easier for the doc also lol.

Arrived at the dental centre slightly late and was quickly ushered and introduced to Prof Ho and the anesthetist.

While I put the hospital gown, prof Ho was explaining to my dad bout the infection and procedere..

The only thing I rmb is the anesthetist putting in the needle on the side of my hand to numb the place. And then he saying " no more needles after this dun worry" and then I was knocked out. ... ( that was quick)

Waking up what seems like only mins later, I dun even rmb how I got out of the room..

Overall it's wasn't a terrifying exp due to the sedation.

Damage: $1.6k partial payment from my dad's Medisave.

Many thanks to the dental professionals who has treated me! Dr. Felicia from amk, Dr. Yap and Ms.Debbie from nex and Prof. Loh and Ms.Joyce from the Q&M dental centre.

Total damage : about 2k

Still bleeding. But so far only discomfort and little pain.

-Gum infection coming on and off.
Now its off. and hoping that it stays off.
Imagine having weird tasting pus oozing out now and then.

Gum specialist says its because of e un-erupted 2nd molars and e wisdom tooth.
Those set of 4 teeth should have come out by teen-hood.
But for me, only the 2 on the left came out.
The other 2, on my right, didnt. due to unexplained circumstances. =/
Unnoticed, until the wisdom tooth starts protesting and got stuck and causing all the problem.

Solution: to extract the upper 2nd molar.
haven made any decision yet.argh

-restarting my driving lessons next week.
should have called earlier. didnt know my instructor is now so packed.

Dental visit

OMG I haven really found a job and my pockets are alr burning.
Went to a dental at amk central due to a gum infection that didn't seem to recover fully.
Ordeal started last 3 weeks ago during e funeral with swollen pus-filled gums. Went to see a Gp who prescribed antibiotics and gel. Swell subsided but here's still the occasional pain and bad tasting pus. Researching online, I realized it's seriousness and decided to go see a dentist.
Q&m at amk central.
1st time in so many yrs( army checkups dun count)
Phobia of dentist too!
Luckily female dentist was quite good and professional,explaining alot while doing the procedures.

Starting off with a visual inspection, she told me one very shocking fact. I am missing one molar tooth! Top right.
After an xray, the teeth was found hiding in the gum.wth
Wisdom tooth seem impacted too.
Deep cleaning of the gums is required and i agreed readily to local anesthetic.
Super painful injection - and the cleaning process for just tt quarter of my mouth isn't pleasant.
Hopefully the infection goes or else I would have to go to a gum $$$$pecialist
Total cost :$71
So much for ord-ing

Now my face feels really numb and strange.
Turing point of my life - to visit dentist more regularly after this while episode is over.

Hopefully I can find a job to start right after my drivin test.

Lots of things have happened since my ORD.
Ah ma (grandma) passed away on 170211.

she was hospitalized for stomach ulcers the day before I get my pink IC.
and thus after that, it was accompanying my mum to the hospital everyday, with dad comin in the evening.
my brother went to reservist the week after.

supposed to go home on weds, albeit with a feeding tube but my mum and uncle feel that she should stay one more day bcos she was still complaining of pain.
and the next day, i heard my mum handphone ring and woke up. i look at my hp
time : 7:21am - little did i know this timing is so significant.

rushing to the hospital with my aunt, we arrived to see that she has gone home.
exactly on the same chinese date as another aunt of mine, albeit 21 yrs later.

wake till mon.
and finally resting at Guang Ming Shan Temple.

Goodbye amma! Hope you have found a nice spot in heaven to watch over us and with grandpa and aunt.

finally.
hectic day getting all the signatures required in the clearance form.
no thanks to them having to had a meeting at east at the exact same day.
waiting in the morning at the gate only to see them drive by cos they r (nearly) late.
and waiting at west for the whole day and luckily they came at the eleventh hour.

BUT finally its all done.
and the pink IC that I have not seen for 22 mths is in my hands!

will be spending the final night of 2010 with my sec 2 classmates!
how time flies. countless chalets later, despite different classes, schools and now with the girls mostly in uni/work and the guys in army/work and some even in different countries. its hard, but we still managed to find time to meet up for soccer and to welcome 2011 tgt. hopefully will will continue to treasure the friendship that we share.

2010 has been a rather bad yr for me. not wanting to talk bout all the things that happen and i regret. hopefully 2011 will be a better yr.
awaiting ORD. a former ICT has offered us post-NS-pre-uni job. hopefully i can finalize my uni decision. starting of uni and studying after a break of so long. talking to my parents and brother more....
and barely keeping this blog alive.

when someone in my shift gets sick, everyone else gets it too!

past 3 mounts we have ppl coughing and sneezing away from flu. to my dismay, i got it too during the mount i got recalled back.

and its recovering real slowly.

Strepsils pain relief was what i took for one afternoon, all 6 of them. throat and tongue felt really numb after that. but it works! at least the throat not painful anymore.

MORE manpower pls! if not how i clear more off next yr sia.

the long-awaited (but dreaded) exercise is finally over!
Postponed since last month, it lasted for 3 days 2 nights.

got more mosquito bites moving stores on the 1st morning than during the exercise. Now both my feet is itching like mad. Hate those bites, esp those that are on the ...er... more sensitive areas like the soles.

Anw, i feel that this yr's one is more organized than last year, and hence the feeling that its much more 'slack' aka 'less shiong' than last yr's. Kudos to the specs and man who made it possible!
and i heard east did better than west! lol. more offs man.

Still i think i need more practice and lessons. slow learner? i think i am.

saw a whole grp of NCDCC cadets falling out at the CDC. not sure what they doing there, but they sure attracted alot of attention.

Oct has come! the month of exercises and the month to say goodbye to more people ORD-ing soon.
our shift has largely stayed the same - consisting of primarily 2 consecutive batch of men (12/10 & 02/11) until recently when the new STs man and specs start coming in. So i guess when we start clearing leave, stop coming and finally getting our pink ICs, the shift will be a very different one.

i have been through 4 lessons of driving.
i find the instructor quite good,(patiently) endlessly reminding (nagging) me about my mistakes. I guess I am one of those who could be a hazard on the road? lol. Seriously hoping to clear the TP test in one shot.

What
the shit. This month if aug ( and maybe last) so many unlucky
things happen. First my eye infection, some others, and now I got a neat
little wound on my forehead. Got it via an impact on a door in camp.

was sent to CGH. Luckily no stitches needed. Only some glueing. In fact the "epiglue"
really smelled like glue when e doc was applying it to my wound. 2days
attend c. Mon still need to book in to see MO for review. And then e
afternoon I was already supposed to got back Tan Tock Seng regarding my
eye infection . Zzz
Feeling
so bad now that I have to trouble so many ppl. Sgt ben, my driver, camp
medic, e CMC driver, the doctors and nurses, and the other shift
mates who have to do my duties for me... And to the AES uncle for
fetching me out!! Haha. He made my day man- friendliest camp personnel I
have seen.
Hope aug ends soon.

well thanks to all for their concern. haha. the swell died down already.

special thanks to dr.yuan who treated me! and told me to massage the swell. although the result wasnt what he quite wanted.
Anw, he still wants to see me one more time on mon.

it wasnt all that bad though. i got 10.5 days of rest out of this.
although it couldnt have come at a better time than to clash with an outing. oh well.

eye infection, not beaten up

wrong things just have to happen at wrong times!

eye infection popped out of nowhere. since monday.
started with a little pain in the right eye, then waking up to a swollen right eye on the bottom.

went to polyclinic, who prescribed some eye drops, cream and antibiotics, which didnt seem to work any magic.

booked into camp thinking that my eyes would somehow recover. my frens were commenting on how i looked beaten up.
literally. lol.

Booking out the next morn with the sore eye, and rashes which i guessed its due to an
allergy to the antibiotics
That i never
knew of before and which i learnt of the itchy way.
Went bak to the clinic, saw another doc and was sent to the A&E at Tan Tock Seng.

Hours later, it was raining heavily, and i was alone in the hospital, awaiting for the damn day surgery which was supposed to remove the pus-filled swell and which the doctors recommended.

but in the end, it was the eye doctor, who after checking my eye with some weird tests and instruments and who prescribed different medicines and told me to come back on monday. =/ during the tests he also put some eye drops in my eyes which served to make my vision blurry for the whole evening (yesterday)O.o, and he let me go home with a five day MC.

ArGH. Just as i had an outing on sun with my jc classmates. just as i have applied for leave for the same sunday and the mount after.

ABW, i guess this is the closest i have been so far to an operation or something.
while waiting outside the AnE operating theater for eye and ENT, ichi heard an old man shouting while the professional nurses and doctors
were working on him. came out some 15 mins later with abit of blood on
his neck, and with nurses trying to avoid his violent kicks.

saw a NSF (yeah in green and boots) accompanying another who came in to nurse a wound near the eye.

hopefully my swell disappears soon. and the infection gone.

as crazy as it looks, it is quite interesting too. stations with name like Ong, Wee and Nair at the SP line and others with Ah Soo etc etc etc. But it looks kidn of confusing though? Maybe if the map really happens, one line at a time, we would not see it as such.

lots of things happening to my shift including the introduction of a new xin-jiao, a change in PS, the lack of ICTs and other unhappy stuff happening during duties.

Finally the airshow is over. well nearly.

airshow woes

ARGH. Of all the airbases, the airshow have to be happening at our air base.

more and more bad news arising from the airshow.
bcos of manpower shortage, our leave will get forfeited! tt means i cant attend my relative's wedding nxt week. cant attend the paintball session also with my sec 2 frens. ernest casey have it worse- bought tickets for a concert and now they cant attend.

more shiong duties will be expected. mount 3 standby 1 rest 1 =(

CNY we are mounting. allowed only half day off each.

at least got some consolations. finally got my LCP rank. okay not mine but passed down by the lao jiaos who got their CPLs today. (our chui emart out of stock....zzz)
goal : pass my IPPT by apr and get CPL. wahaha.

The past 2 days of mounting have been especially physically and mentally tiring somehow. many things happened. Actually not just this mount, but e previous few mounts also. and we are expecting more busy and shack duties ahead with the upcoming singapore air show happening literally right at our backyard.

just wish that this phase would pass quickly and i can get to enjoy some of the offs i fore-casted for end feb and march.

cousin's wedding soon! its been long sinc ei went to a relatives' wedding. e previous one isnt.

dinner with squadron mates later. paintball next sat (hopefully). things to look forward to.

goodbye 2009 and hello to 2010!!
a new decade and im still stuck in army.

well the past year have been quite an eventful year.

starting off with working at cold storage as a store asst and cashier. with leckkhai.
even though the job has been boring, at least i met nice colleague there like e aunties and boss.
so much so we do still visit them now and then. maybe next yr durin e chinese new year too! lol

A Levels results. not too bad. made my first uni choice.

then the dreadful enlistment came
BMT. most physically intensive period in my life. even made me regret sometimes getting into enhanced batch due to the shiongness and little time for recovery. managed to get thru the route marches, running, exercises, BTPs though failing SOC and IPPT.=/

got into 2pdf as RP! the slackiest and best period of army. Aircon lectures and unlimited e-mart and canteen breaks. though the H1N1 outbreak at clementi camp prevented us from visiting the mess further. the 2 weeks were certainly fast.

me and my whole synicate got posted to Changi Air base and underwent a 6 weeks FDC course. haha. i have more memories of this than bmt. ROE, weapons handling, PAC VAC, contingencies drills, turnouts and then the POP. made great frens of there, esp my platoon mates.

now i have been at changi air base east for e 4 mths. LCP le. do duty until dunno do le. countless mounts and unlimited sticks later i still have 1 yr and 2 more mths to go.

meery christmas!!

2 movies i watched recently .

Avatar is a really good movie to watch. 4/5. storyline and effects are good. pity i didnt watched in 3d. be warned : the movies abits long though. haha. i had to hold my urine since the cinema (jubilee amk) i watched in has no toilets for now. and we arrived slightly late for e movie.

Storm Warriors2 (风云II) is a real waste of money. although the effects are good, there are too many of the "slow motion" parts and e storyline is boring.

Christmas mount have been interesting so far. lots of things happened.

but the next mount gonna be tiring.

and oh gosh the year is ending soon. =/

Woah. so long never update. =/

finally i am a LCP! announcement is a wee one month overdue. and the physical LCP amulet is not given yet, although we start writing tt instead of PTE and name when we signed out stuff for our duties. An increment of $20 in the allowance - a mild but gladly accepted increment.

now tt most except 1 of the lao jiaos are starting to clear leave, whats left is "men" of my age and majority of my batch.
life's pretty mundane though.

A rat was spotted in our pantry recently. and attempts to catch a cat failed. and so operation mouse-hunt was launched at e previous mount and was successful! not very big as spot, though its tail is like frigging long. one less worry for now.

watched 2012 after e NE trip to Amy museum (again...!) last month. watching 风云2 with squadron mates tmr. and hopefully can make it for soccer this sat...

friday the thirteen!

but today's safety day not too bad la

the run today was tiring but at least the S3 and top ranked ppl were happy with the way we sang and stuff.
and so we got to go home after lunch!
vs 4pm plus for shifts 2&3 yest.

the usual stuff -safety briefings.
went to bless the new bunks for the west FDS ppl.
king koil beds. BMT styled rooms. no more chui fans and flooring like the depressing old bunks.
overall its a huge leap to their SOL. congrats to them man.
oh yea - while touring Saw tushar's photos on one of the bunk - hes e bunk IC for his bunk! lol

over at east we also got the new beds.
nice and comfortable.
but they are so thick.
i am sleeping at the top of the twin beds, and climbing up requires 2 more steps.
and i have to be more careful not to bang my head against the protruding light on top.
but other than tt no complaints!

oh man. haven really updated for a few weeks

life been as usual. mount dismount mount dismount etc...

UNTIL recently than do i managed to go for soccer with my sec sch frens.
just when i though the weather would be so nice and cooling and was hoping for it not to rain, the sun came out fully and hot.
but it feels good (though tiring) to be out having fun, exercising with a ball and some frens.

been in the aircon for too long already.
durin mounting days, we practically eat shit bath watch tv sleep in aircon.
and even for duties, we have e cctv room, pass office, personal control room and e uvss room aircon-ed. =S

ANW, with my feet still arching, i managed to go for a run with leckhai. (thanks for forgetting...lol)
the route from his house to seletar reservoir was nice!
and with the chat all the way there, it didnt feel that tired.

and lastly for the soccer with 5 other ppl shift-mates on e road just outside our guardhouse!
our sgts were like threatening us with turnouts...lol
now my right big toe hurts terribly.

DAMN my helmet is still missin.

but when the guy started not getting our address right and explaining about the min cost of $80, i felt tt something is wrong.
we had ordered mac so freq (this was my 2nd time though) and so it should be routine.
then when deyuan took over and i saw what he dialed, i realise what was wrong. =/

luckily i never got down to telling the operator what was on the to-order list.

life's pretty settled down at CAB east

except for the fact tt we are still doing e full 7-8 sticks (aka 24 out of 48 hrs) of duty.
so the only time i can get to sleep properly is at home. =/

took e ippt the day before.
and tt is after a long 5 weeks plus of inactivity (other than a short run last wk)
i felt lighter ..lol
i failed! but at least i improved since BMT
looking foward to retaking and passing and probably a silver.
and getting the OFFs and contributing to e shift performance and more OFFs! =)

well, nothings much lately actually. just food, duty sleep = FDS.
hah. the horrible turnouts have ended for my shift. contingency drills be done during e standbys.
and for this week, there has been no standbys due to e good performance so far.... =)

Have started my duties. but for e 1st month, we(my shift 4) have so many restrictions it feels worse than being trainees at FDC. OJT would last for about 2 weeks and of which comes with the horrible turnouts. Although the bunks are aircon-ed, theres only 1 bunk, so many beds and so many ppl. and its dark most of the time (due to ppl sleeping).

still trying to get used to sleeping and doing duties and eating at odd hours.

damn damn.
POP-ed from FDC on fri evening!
finally a full-fledged RP.
it was just a simple parade, lasting less than 10mins, with fewer than 10 guests.
but it marked the end of our 6 wks 2 days of journey.

saw 3 sirs from 2pdf! think they managed to come in time only for the buffet and the chat with us.
platoon 2 also got our well-deserved best platoon.
too bad PC tee wasnt here to receive the award on behalf of us.

the past few weeks of the course have been met with unhappy incidents. and the night after our POP wasnt spared either. but luckily its over and hopefully the outcome will be satisfying for everyone next weds.

Sat was a day well spent with my platoon mates and sgts.
firstly it was breakfast+lunch+dinner for us at kang's dad's restaurant at macpherson road
a full 10 course hongkong meal! best meal i ever have.
too bad i didnt bring any camera to capture the food.
ate from about 1 to 4.
eat until blur

after tt we headed to east coast park for cycling and skating.
as usual the route was towards and past changi airport.
but due to time constraints we could only made it halfway past the airport.

i forgot when was this ^^ taken.

OJT finally came and went!
im glad tt i survived it.
haha. used to take for granted the admin and sleeping times we used to have every night.

unexpectedly, we were allowed to book out last night till mon morning.
so here i am! despite me and my course mates having prepared so much for the 2 weeks confinement, including bringing in lots of food and portable chargers and stuff. so when there is a surprise announcement regarding the book out,we were elated! haha

anw, so much has happened within this week alone.
the good and alot of bads.
to my platoon and section esp.

hopefully the last week of the course would be better!
so not awaiting POP as it meant the end of the trainees life, being "protected" by our Sirs and Sgts.

too bad cannot invite anyone for the POP though (awaiting the putting on of the RP armband)

Starting to understand our sgts better!

i missed an 89 bus on my way to book in last week.

what is supposed to be early book in turned out to be a nearly late one
so while rushing down for RO after putting down my bags (lcukily no need change attire),
i had a slip and came down hard on my already chui left knee cap.

1 week RMJ. but the pain doesnt seems to be going away. damn man.

one event after another leading to the late bookout. kudos to the taxi which arrived barely 2 mins after ivan called though.

Lastly...happy national day! having lived on (and now serving for) this lsland for some 19 plus years, i am grateful for all that is given and provided. the security, the stability, the food, the places, the education, the transportation, the friends of different races...and many more. heres a toast to Singapore's 44 birthday!

this week has been quite slack. except for the field camp

well the field camp itself is indeed tiring, with all the sandbags and stuff we have to do.
though i would say the view from our campsite is breathtaking - a view of one of changi airport's runway!
seeing planes land and take off within a hundred metres from you - priceless.

but the packing of the field camp with stuff we didnt even use, the standarisation and checks,
and the loading and unloading of the stores are the tiring parts.
the thousands of empty but still sandy sandbags, the cornwires, iron prickles etc.
my uniform and ARGH - boots are ruined by the cornwires etc - scratched and holes! =(

had a meetup with lecky and yuhuai yesterday afternoon.
as usual we chated about our army life.
common things between our MP, air trooper,and sea soldier courses.

watched "ice age 3" with them.
damn alot of funny and lame parts.
i would give it a 3 out of 5. =)

4 more weeks!
although im quite enjoying myself with the company of my platoon and section mates during the course.
hopefully most of platoon 2 (or my section) can stay tgt as a shift after the course.

next weeks is field camp. 2 days 1 night. will be siong but i will make it.

left knee cap has been giving me some pain. planned on checking it out after the course ends or something. or maybe it justs need time to recover.

found a much shorter route home!

previously the home->walk->mrt->bishan->59->changi air base(CAB) journey took me some 2 hours.
or the CAB->89->pasir ris mrt->88->home taking me at least 1 hour half.
now the CAB->89->hougang ave 10->88->home is taking me only 1 hr!!
no more having to leave by 7pm every sun evening to book in.

to tt i am really thankful to bus service 88 for serving me well through the years. from my sec sch days, my CCA days, my jc days, my BMT days and even to date, my CAB days.

time wasnt very well spent i could say.

bunks wasnt in the best of all conditions.

and the course would only began proper next week. =(

The RP course is over. sadded.

the rumours of e whole synicate 3 posted to air force turned out to be true in the end.

and so we are posted to changi airbase - for a 6++ weeks air trooper course.
reporting on e thurs - tts means i have a 5 day break!
not tt the 2 weeks RP course is itself a break.

had movie and dinner with my 2/3 pals yesterday.
Transformers is great! just tt i sometimes get confused by the different machines.
but the action and plot is nice.

Dinner at a chinese steamboat restaurant. not very worth it. but at least we 8 spent quality time talking about ...army.

bak to the break. of all times. i have to have a fever now. =(

RP course week 1

1 week spent at clementi camp doing the RP course.
quite slack actually. frequent breaks in between lectures. even when theres practicals they are held at e MPH or under shelter.
lunch breaks were an hour long on av and canteen/e-mart/toilet breaks were plenty =)
theres supposed to be a 3km run on weds..but it rained! zzz.. so morning was spent
.....sleeping in the LT. =/

made quite a few new frens too!

but then the torture is the need to travel to and fro from home and camp. bus-> mrt->mrt->bus->walk = 1hr plus and more than $3.

these would only last till next fri though, when we would graduate from the course and bid goodbye to clementi camp. hoping to get posted to army RP but most likely air force RP = another 6 weeks course
unless, of course, if i get into the K9 unit? i like animals but am not very sure of having to train and handle the dogs, and also to clean them their bunks in addition to my future one...

finally POP-ed yesterday!!

24km route march was physically demanding and i am very surprised tt i can complete it.
having to carry all our barang-barangs when before tt we were expecting to need to carry our 10-pack items minus the store-items. =/
the 12-20km is also the most tiring, where our paths include mud, rocks, sand, very uneven surfaces and slopes!
going to rocky hill, to field camp site, to sit test site and back to the SOC ground behind the parade ground.
but at least we got 100-plus, kit-kats and bananas alongside with our own sweets and biscuits to snacked during our breaks. heheheh

slept at about 9pm the night before, woke up at 3am, breakfast, drew arms, and set off at about 5.15pm.
finished at about 12 to 1pm. exhausted, arches but with a sense of satisfaction.

bathed using the training shed's shower and barely rested before we have to get ready for our parade.
together with 3 other rocky hill companies quebec, yankee and zulu (yeah we are the only ladangs).
the GP started at about and at about 4.45pm, we are the "........trainnnned soilllders!! "

will certainly miss the life in tekong even though the trainings have been tough.
thanks to all my platoon and esp my section mates
and my sgts (esp PS Shah tom whom we respect alot) for having enabled us to finished this 8 weeks 3 days of trainings.

the surprise birthday cake for for all birthday boys during the BMT period.
the armskote duties i dread doing every time we have to drew arms, but happy every time we recieved arms.

my house's toilets and pipe works finally completed, but theres still the renovation next door,the installation of the new clothes hanger and the lift upgrading. and the construction side opp. noise and dust.

my mum also keep talking about how the workers finished all the water and food tt she offered in so little time. apprantly better-fed workers do better jobs. lol.

its 4 more days to POP.

mixed feelings as usual. will be missing the life in BMT cos i heard its gonna be alot tougher out there in our units.
yet all these while i (we) have been looking forward to POP. and getting out of this shitty island. its exactly how i feel after ORD-ing from ncc air and it club the last time.

Too many stuff this week! memeorable. bad. good. surpringly and socked.

IPPT. Retest. and failed again. Yes, I have been improving physically but my strength could not catch up with my sudden weight gain and the fatigue of training everyday. people booked in feeling refreshed and i booked in still feeling arches despite my own stretching. and my weight. increased from 46(last nov) to 52kg! i was like... w:Oah! when i saw the readings last tues.

SOC: didnt really complete SOC 9 cos of the attn B the other time and costing me 2 SOC lessons one day after another. so i am stuck at 7. not sure if theres a re-SOC. though i know i would failed cos i could not clear the low wall and rope. surprisingly i am now okay with the "high elements" stations at the back (except for the 2m ramp which i haven tried).

Games day: Hawk won the champion! thoguh we were like 2nd and third for most of the games, at least we gathered enough of them to get the most points at the end. lol.

Recuits evening: Damn high! performances, girls (:O), band, dances and disco...

Drill com: got into finals! damn heng cos we were deducted 10 points already right at the beginging due to watches and ananda's rifle sling dropped during the routine. finals was held yesterday right after a whole afternoon of GP rehearsals and we got third...not the champion tt our Oc (and us) have hoped for.

GPR=Graduation parade rehearsals! one after another. do hormat until sianz. as if we in drill squad didnt do enuff. but at least we got praised afew times. except for the infantry roar which we screwed up a few times cos we were learning a slighting different version though in all it was quite obvious cos we were doing differently from the rest.

Last bookout: It was a rush! rush bak from parade sq, rush to put down full pack, throguh dinner, finding our full packs and putting them on, rushing bak to pack, send arms, and RO and to the terminal. zzz didnt even have time to bath and change out of our smelly 4.
sgt CK was like asking us the armsquad y normally we dun do things tt fast..

Getting home: in colman's dad's van! thanks once gain. Chatted with him cos after next weds dunno when still cant see him except on outings. came home lunging a damn heavy duffle bag + a field pack. if not for him....

Home Sweet Home : my house toilet's under upgrading and the whole house is like in a mess le. okay. not exactly messy, but now we bath and shit in a temp toilet. workers coming in to check and do stuff as i type. it should be complted by 12 jun

OC evening on weds was really entertaining! damn funny.

(uncivilised) SGT :"....knock it down!!"
Civilised Recruit : " sgt...instead of using the term 'knock it down', why cant you say 'can you please move to the push up position...?' "LOL

and our platoon 3's imitation of CSM is the star of the show!! hah. everyone was like laughing at how the movements and words really reflect that of our CSM, who unfortunately is away on a course.

Restriction of Admin time as punishment for my platoon for time being....damn.no time to wash clothes, bath, call home, pack bag liao.

16km route march on thurs also ended! part of the route was with quebec, yankee and zulu. so i guess we would be having our GP with them. as far as i know, theres lecky and yongyuan.

Drill competition on monday. Good luck to the team! Stupid SOC have to be on the morning before tt. hopefully we can get into the finals though we are not really optimistic of our 1.5 weeks training vs jaguar's and other's several weeks' trainings.

i was also confined along with some others while the rest booked out on thurs evening, due to my rifle being successfully stunned by my sgt during field camp...=( so we get to spend 2 more nights on the island.
though its not good being stuck on the island while othersget to go home, we so called confiness didnt really have a bad time. here's why.
-sgt wei chao opened the annex room for us on thurs night. aircon, TV, table tennis, pool, HP, board games!
-platoon 3 gathered tgt to play some really lame but funny games like bing bang bong and hi mary, yes mary, say to mary.
-we had our meals at the sch 2 cookhouse, and eating muslim food! damn nice! haha.
-we get lots of admin time to polish our boots, ermm..sleep, chat, OTOT trainings and stuff.
-yes we have to do some area cleaning at the coy line and the HQ, but only for 1-2 hours.
-sgt izzat refuesd to open the annex room on fri night depsite our "saaa-ji-en...."s , but at the end when almost everyone left, he pulled me aside and gave me the key! lol
-the confinees get to know each other better! from diff platoons and sections.

home improvement for my block is starting and afew days later its my house turn. but already its so nosiy.

yet another week has gone. 18 more days to POP!

my cough got worsen during the week. and a flu. reported sick on thurs and gotten an Attn B. and i have to miss 2 sessions of SOC. damn. heard tt tt means i might not get to run the full rundown distance on the last session. means i prob would not get to pass my SOC. but then, i still have problems with the low rope, swing trainer and perhaps on the last few stations. =/

platton 3 seemed really screwed up this week as well. getting pumped and punished by our superiors every now and then.
if u think 50 sets of 8 jumping jacks with rifle is bad, theres still the "endless count of 4" regime..lol
we do really have to improve in terms of our displine, but i do know tt most of us are trying. its a few who are not.

preparations for our GP have also started and now it seems so near. yet i am still struggling with my IPPT. choosing between chionging or giving a rest to my ever arching limps. pondering about sispec or normal man. hesitant about the drill squards practices at night. and deciding what biscuits/snacks to bring back to camp on every bookouts.

I came home from yet another camp, albeit a shorter one.

SIT test. meant to make us all tired and then test how we would still carry on our missions under stress and tried conditions be it as an IC, 2IC or a member.

I was in Foxtrot (name of a dance i think), with 14 others and and a very nice Sgt CK.
14 others include 1 from jaguar and 1 from falcon, who was very helpful throughout the missions cos hes been through some of them before. lol

my group was damn cooperative and tt made the jobs of the ICs much easier (i was 2ic once).
and everyone including the sit retest people went through everything! thanks to all for the time spent.

my birthday was celebrated with a takan session in the morning, followed by a wonderful lunch of spaghetti and fried chicken, and the start of the sit test via a 12km route march. thanks to all for the wishes! though i couldnt reply immediately cos i had no access to a com and my handphone.

anyway, its over and i came back once again feeling tired and with the insect bites. booking in again this evening. ^$#@#@
now to conc on improving physically for my IPPT and SOC.

Happy Vesak Day!!

Mood: Very Tired

back from field camp!
it was a damn tiring 6 days.

it really made me appreciate the comfort of the company line and of course, my home.
in the camp, we were deprived of alot of things like showering, clean beds and bunks, changing and toilet facilities. but one thing we didnt lack and tts water and food!
being deprived of my HP even at night did really made me miss my parents.

field packs not too bad. I like the porridge and the deserts best. and i swear i have not eaten tt much biscuits in 6 days before! packets after packets of biscuits were eaten and shared as the commanders allowed us to eat during the lessons. it helped us stay awake and replenishes our much energies.

my shellscrape position is under a tree and while tt provides shade, it makes digging way hard with all the roots to cut up. =/ sleeping in term is not very comfortable - we have to protect our rifle, and squeeze in alongside our field pack, LBV and sandbags, and wearing not so clean uniforms, and with a powered but not showered body and sleeping with insects.

and alas! this few mornings it has been raining!! so much so we have to set up a balsa to run into in case it rained at night. while it made the day temp cooler, it leaves behind mud and puddles.

training was tiring and the fact tt i couldnt really sleep well in the night didnt help. i came home (thanks to my buddy's father who fetched me home) with arching muscles, blisters, abrasions and insects bites. i didnt even get a chance to bath cos everyone was rushing to pack and camo off.

one thing though. i was super blur during the camp, losing things here and there. think tt didnt left a very good impression of me by my commanders and my peers. hopefully my blurness do not continue bak to coy line.

in conclusion, it was indeed a new and unique (but super tiring) experience nevertheless. congrats to everyone who completed the field camp!
damn it tt we only have today and tmr to wash and dry our bags and clothes.

have been thinking alot during the camp and i (and asasome of my friends said), we are wondering what the hell we were doing in the forest, getting pains and arches. yes, its for the country but sometimes the tiredness justg makes u wonder.

next week sit test! another 6 day week. sianz

grandma

woah so fast the 3 days of break is going.

looking forward to end of field camp, and end of SIT test.
and of course ..to POP! lol. abit too early i know.

went out wif my parents yesterday. visit grandma, and hougang uncle
talking about my grandma. Shes now 80 plus nearing 90. old and kinda inactive le.
confined to her sofa and bed ever since her fall many years ago.

but lately she has been deteriorating much, esp after chinese new year.
her left ear is partially deaf and so we shouts into her right ear. and sometimes she doesnt even recognise us and talks to herself.
and all this while, we have to thank the caregiver (aka maid) lily for taking good care of her.

during my confinement, she was hospitalized, due to some sickness. and i heard she was crying to come home and even pulled off her breathing tubes once. makes me kinda sad but this shows she is still 清醒。　luckily shes now home cos theres now this swine flu thingy going around.

physically wise shes much skinnier and with the green-blue bruises due to the needles.
mentally once, she seems to have improved as as she was able to respond and recogonise us yesterday!
hopefully she can continue to see good days.

This was taken during june last year. Though she was already sort of bedridden, she was still able to talk and laugh with us.

Taken during Chinese New year, more thinner and took her a while to recognise my cousins and auntie.

BMT 1st bookout!

just came bak from my confinement period in BMT!
18 freaking long days.
anw i am in Hawk coy, platoon 3.
quite a siong platoon, but luckily platoon 3 considered quite ok le (except for the our 4th storeys bunks)

as we are constantly reminded, we are an "enhanced leadership" batch and we have to do more things in a shorter period of BMT time. so within this confinement period, swimming, injections, 6km route march, IMT, BTP has all been done!

next bookin on sat evening. field camp's on the sun to fri! not really mentally (and physically) prepared but heck, still has to go thru it.

i am now till feeling arches despite the shooting week being relatively slack. sit test, IPPt and soc after field camp. then POP! =)
damn i got into drill squard. =/ there goes my admin times.

and yeahs. its REALLY really Hot at Tekong. so many of myplatoon mates got the tekong cough tt a lecture cannot go on without hearing it every few seconds. and nearly half of my section mates kenna status-es already, mostly due to fevers.

went to genting with my mum from last mon weds to fri.
same old thing - theme park rides, the clouds and cool weather, the shopping and stuff.
but bcos the sch hols are over, it is less crowded (or so it seemed)

on the 2nd day in fact, i enjoyed 3-4 rounds of continuous bumper car with the about the same group of people cos theres little/no queue!

the breakfast at 1st world cafe at the 3rd morning is a shock of my life.
so crowded, queue here and there. the food also quite sucky.
suddenly so many chinese tourists.

the trip back to singapore is refreshingly free of jams (except for the rain, the 2 drivers having their endless chatter, and a flying stone shattering a small potion of the windscreen).
reached back in singapore for the first time before nightfall.
but damn, the journey bak home via taxi is the opposite due to the peak hour. =/

SAT
cycling at ubin!
my 2nd time after the odac-nyaa camp last year.
this time it is with leckkhai, yihang, sheryl, weihao, jasontan and junliang.

a very HOT experience with the blazing sun.
visited chek jawa but could only see small fishes and some jellyfishes (and a damn fat bettle) due to the high tide.
had lunch at the seafood restaurant there and then cycled to try to find the quarry.
think it is now closed to the public or something, since paths leading to it led to state land and dead ends...zzz
some of the paths were also seriously rocky and bumpy and rough but luckily our $6 bikes held up much better than the $2 bikes at the previous time.
but of cos, i will NOT let my own bike suffer the same treatment.
though the brakes were kinda sucky, i enjoyed going down the slopes and of cos, hated doing up them, esp the rocky ones which made the tough going even tougher.

overall it is nice to be cycling amound nature and with friends, but the weather is a wee bit too hot though.
drank up almost 3 litres of water and 100-plus and visiting the toilet only once - after we came bak to the mainland.
was feeling so tired on the bus trip to yishun that the 3 of us who got seats dozed off.

SUNburnt for the 2nd time in the month!
tt is like right after my previously burnt and peeling skin got rubbed off completely.

still waiting while alot of my friends already starting their new vocations le.

went swimming with yihang yest.
it has been a Looooong while since i last swam properly. about 6 years ago i guesses.
nth much changed the swimming complex i used to go for my swimming lessons.
even the ticketing machines at the entrance - deteriorating and breaking down. xD

was wondering if my swimming coach is still there teaching. and he is!
met uncle khoo while he was preparing to start his lessons for the evening.
wasnt sure if it was him
Until he waved to me and called me as "you jason....lim or something right....? "
LOL . seems that my face has not changed much all these years.

after being out-of-touch with my swimming strokes, i am now only comfrotable with my breast strokes.
i couldnt even swim a proper stroke of freestyle. =/

21o7 chalet

chalet at east coast goldkist resort for the past 3 days. first time chalet at east coast! unit E4.
other than the mosquitoes and flies and the price, the chalet is pretty comfortable. 2 storeys, 1 bedroom..

1st day - went with jinkai and wesley to bbq wholesale centre to buy the bb1 food. hoestly i thought tt the centre will be big, but i was kinda surpriesed tt it is just a shop . in fact when we got off the bus, we walked past it without noticing....zzz

6 guys + 1 soccer ball = beach soccer!
we are the early birds and while waiting for the rest, we played on the beach just outside our resort.

started BBq-ing at about 5 plus, while the others started arriving in groups.
a total of 17 ppl turned up - not too bad la bah

bbq, eat, eatch tv, mahjong, guys talk, girls talk, cam!

mahjong-ed the night away.

2nd day- mac-ed for breakfast, rushing bak to chalet with bikes we rented on the way because of the looming rain.
we cycled out again with the intention of finding somewhere to play rugby or something, but we ended up cycling ALL the way to changi, the airport and past it.

okay la, watching planes taking off and landing just across the road is nice and breathtaking, but the impromptu trip left us very tired, thirsty and a slight heat exhaustion for some of us when we finally arrived at changi village more than 10 km and 3+ hrs from our start point. nobody bought water for the trip.

some of us ended up borrowing money for our lunch and drinks. we made sure to have a good rest before we set off bak to chalet in 3 grps. another 2 hrs. making sure to have lots of rest stops along the way. SUNBURNT

mahjong-ed, cards, chat before we went for dinner at the seafood centre near the lagoon.
despite our arching butts, we still managed to cycle around the lagoon.

the rain came suddenly at night just as we started sleeping. I even thought i was dreaming.

open houses

went for NTU and NUS open houses during the weekends.

the weather was so fine on sat at ntu tt me, otp, laodie, clarence toured (nearly) the whole sch on foot.
climbing up and down staircases, opening doors etc.
was apparently waiting for the sake sushi buffet at 3pm! lol

however, it was raining so heavily at nus tt me, clarence, mel toured on buses.
saw the architature exhibition. damn nice! hah. the structures and drawings.
managed to find only 1 chi "restaruant" for our makan.

still considering either mec engineering or com sci. Argh. so much activities and little time to sort out and look thru the brioches properly. deadline is end of mar.

anyways, its great meeting up wif the 2/3 ppl again.

smiliar to the previous meeting with 21/07 before the release of As results, most of the boys have been into BMT and are talking about army stuff. grenade throwing, rifle shooting, guard duties, parades etc.

things i will be having only in 1 months time. SOON.

Chalet-ing till weds! wonder how the organisers managed to choose to have it at some Goodkist resort...lol. near the beach. so hopefully we have a good time! pity only few girls comin (despite the fact tt our class have already so few girls...).

end of cold stroage work

at the farewell "ceremony" yesterday ,me and alex gave out cupcakes bought at the pastry shop inside cold storage. and buying more when they isnt enough. greedy marwin took 3 of the cakes! in exchange, the aunties gave us more chocolates! this was after we ourselves already bought the chocolates on discounts. auntie ivy gave us tiger beer...radio! haha. the packaging shocked us abit.

seems funny tt during my post o levels days, i was also looking for a job as a admin but gotten a retail job. started with cashiering and then as a sales asst. its almost the same situation now.

thanks to mr.ralph tan the boss! marwin my DM. Aunties Rahima, mandy, siew mai, siew eng, june and hafix and yoga. to auntie ivy the cashiering DM and beer/wine section in charge. to cashiers Auntie Hwee Ping, celine, heng tock, mala, maha, yi peng and alex.

And yes! i finally got my pay today! slightly over $1000. not bad not bad. but tts was becos i worked kinda lots of OT hours on Jan. but considering the trouble and delays i have to goi thru to get this pay for jan alone, it was not a good experience.=/

woah siao. accident again. on the same intersection beside my blk. just as i was starting this post.

loud crash, bang, and then drivers cursing. then arguments and discussions and photo taking. while other cars are doing roundabout trying to get thru. Now then i see drivers giving way and waiting patiently

police came. parked on side of road. then bus comes. police car is in the way and the bus nearly get trapped. jam occurred . =/
luckily the bus manages to get thru. haha. but there was an increase in no of parked cars by the road nearby. as kaypo as me. lol

3 more days!
so many "big boss"es came today for "inspection" tt my boss gets stressed. hafiz and auntie june not on leave/mc/off day and hence everyone else including me becomes busier doing their load as well. but in this way i get to chat more! haha.irony. chatting with the nestle auntie,with rahima, with the burmese "double 2".

swiss bakery gave us 2 of their cakes today! greedy me ate 2 (small) slices after work when nobody was around in the pastry. lol. damn nice.

Tomberlone chocolates went for buy 1 get 1 free in the evening! in some corner near the dairy.
the news spread around the staff so fast i see my colleges buying 6-8 of them each....! literally emptying the shelf.
tmr morning i shall be the first costomer to buy. they better be at least 2 left. =/

time flies, a levels results, family BBQ

Time really flies. i dunno how many times i have started the post with this but to me, the past 2 months or so seemed to have flown by so quickly.

It was so like yesterday tt i started working at Cold storage and introduced lecky to the job. and he becomes alex and has his last day (of work) yesterday. My last day would be on Thursday. planning to distribute farewell gifts on tt day and suddenly its like we know (almost) everyone in the supermarket.

It was also so like yesterday tt someof my frens got enlisted into army and now they are preparing for their POPs liaoz. and soon it will be my turn.,.....hmmms.

The long-awaited A levels results was released on fri. though i was kinda dreading to see bad results. but luckily the results did not turned out badly as thought. in fact, it was better than expected, esp for my econs and GP. Many thanks to the teachers for their hard work!

Came back to work on sat and alot of the aunties and DMs starting asking about our results. was kinda touched by the concern shown by them. esp aunite heng tock who called on fri night to ask. =)

family BBQ on sat evening at woodsvale. so many relatives attending. but 2-3 years old xu you was the star of the evening. Attracting so much attention with her animated movements and dances and songs...lol. shes like my father's older brother's son's daughter. Thanks to cousin hock seng and family for being such graceful hosts!

ARGH. i told waisun not to worry and me myself is worrying too.
for GP and econs esp.
i tried not to think about it at work but the the aunties (and kumar) have to tell me bout it.

Theres this pie shop inside cold storage. i haven tried it yet but will do before 12 mar.

chalet's on the 16th! looking forward to meeting my classmates again.
though i hope more people can come so those goin (includin me) do not have to fork out so much money.

Work's is getting less and less boring now that im less shy with my colleagues and also with more things to do. such as helping to check expiry dates for the diary section and helping to stock items.
not tt we have a serious problem with tt just tt the visit by the NEA officers reminded us to be more viligant.

my flat and the blocks and area surrounding it is becoming more and more of a contruction site. in addition to the big one opposite my flats, different sized ones have also sprung up, digging, laying cables, building storage area for lift and flat upgrading. finally.

suicide case at my blk last sun. minor accident last sat. theft cases at the supermarket during the last few weeks.

this happens esp on weekends!
and last weekend particularly,
yazid the trolley boy isnt around and i and the "double 2" have to do the job....

of pushing rolls and rolls of trolleys bak from the carpark.

but then it takes alot of time bcos waiting for this service lift feels like waiting for dinner time at 4pm.
and somemore it doesnt serve the floors 2A and 3. &^%$#

meanwhile i get to enjoy the screeching sounds of cars speeding and braking navigating the turns of the carpark.

DM Danielle asked me about how do felt about my job so far.
my reply was kinda short - "quite okay la" cos it was an unexpected qn and i haven really considered bout it.

Honestly,i do not like the job..but neither do i hate it.
its just a temporary job and i do have my boring days on weekdays.
phasing out things,walking to and fro.

good news is... i now get to go home 1 hr earlier on weekdays!
heheh. in line with the company's cost cutting measure of minimizing OT hours among stuff.

I do also have my tiring times, getting a whole row of trolleys from the carpark, carrying boxes of stuff and esp helping auntie ivy with her wine and beer section.

but at least my boss, DMs and fellow colleagues were nice and frenly!
esp the cashiers. Auntie heng tock even gave me an angbao on CNY.

Will be staying on till the 1st week of march. then will be having class chalet (finally!).
and the countdown to amy. (and hopefully training for it)

alex and i have even decided tt when we waiting for uni after our NS, we might come bak to cold storage =)

ARGH. I m preety lazy to rearage the photos. So its abit jumbled up.

Firstly, i would like to blame the stupid com. I editted some of the photos to rotate them and adjust their lightings.
then i right-clicked and selected "arrange icons by date" and the order is gone. =/

and then blogger uploading and reversing the order.

and finally myself for being lazy to completely edit this outdated draft.
